If you have been watching golf on the TV recently you will have seen some shots tracked from when they leave the clubface to where they land, all sorts of data can then be seen as to ball speed, launch angle, club path and clubface at the point of impact. The machines they often use are called a FlightScope or Trackman. We have one of these in our Swing Studio and use it to either teach or custom fit players.
One piece of data we are always looking at is the spin rate of the golf ball. Spin Rate is the amount of spin on the golf ball immediately after impact, and has a major influence on the height and distance of a shot. A much higher spin rate is beneficial for wedge play, because maximizing control around the greens is paramount. Less spin is sought with the driver because the objective off the tee is to promote distance and roll. Slower club head speeds benefit from higher spin rates by sustaining the flight time of the golf ball, keeping it airborne longer.
Every golfer has their own swing speed and angle of attack into the ball, which influences spin rate, and with the FlightScope we can get exact data to help each individual achieve their optimum spin rates which can either add distance for your drives or increase your control of the shorter shots by increasing spin.
We are currently offering FREE FlightScope sessions in our Swing studio so you can benefit from this technology and help you achieve better results from your golf and understand the mechanics of what makes the ball do what a little better.
So please don't hesitate and contact us in the Pro Shop to book your FREE FlightScope session. You can do this in person, by calling 01525 244 815 or clicking here to request your session.

In a fog delayed March Stableford with the tee markers back to full length the scoring proved a little trickier. Paul Ellam managed to come out on top of Division One with 39pts, Phil Coumbe claimed second place with 38pts, Shane Bentley and Will Koch were joint third with 37pts. Division Two was won on countback by Peter Townley from Daniel Hill after they both scored 39pts. Andreas Valentine, Brian Hurley and Dan Latimer were next in line all scoring 38pts. It is great to see Daniel Hill and Brian Hurley finishing high up as I have helped them with their game. As a coach it is always great when your clients play well.
Our Mail On Sunday team unfortunately got beaten 3 - 2 in an away game against Aylesbury Vale. Colin Beesley and Paul Atkinson were the two winners in the team with Phillip Spratt-Callaghan, Richard Samuels and Manny Barker sadly losing their matches.

I just thought I would include a video about shoulder alignment as it is a common problem in golf and is especially destructive when you are using the driver.

"Maurice has helped me so much with my golf. He has really helped me with my mind and my golf swing. Maurice's coaching is awesome, you simply can't beat it."
"By the time I went to see Maurice I had completely lost confidence in every part of my game. I wasn't particularly enjoying golf anymore and was often beaten before I stood on the 1st tee. Time on the practise ground didn't work. I just practised my faults and endangered the lives of people walking through Sandy Lane. Having a series of lessons with Maurice has been brilliant and has really helped me get my confidence and passion for golf back. He has great knowledge on all aspects of the game, communicates in a way even I can understand and is always following up on how I am doing.
My one regret is I didn't do it sooner."
