The US Open is being played next week at Oakmont and if the powers that be do their usual set up of the golf course then the scoring will prove tricky. They seem to like the winning score being around level par for some reason or another. Jordan Spieth is defending Champion and with his awesome short game the ultra-slick greens should play into his strengths. Even though he did crumble at The Masters he has won since and probably feels he has something to prove. Jason Day is always a good bet as there doesn't seem to be any big weaknesses in his game and then theirs Rory McIlroy who can out play anybody if he's on his game. All in all it should make for a fascinating championship with some great shot making from the World's best. We do have a US Open sweepstake running in the Pro Shop and there are some spaces left if you would like to have some added interest.

There are more female golfers at this club than at any of the other 22 in the County.
But with more than 100 ladies on the books, strength in numbers wasn't enough to avoid them being beaten in the annual match against their male club colleagues.
For out of the six matches played, only America-born Patti Marriott and President's wife Sue Preston returned a winning card, beating ex-Captain Derek Lindley and Nigel Phelps for a consolation prize.
Club Captain Adrian Stephenson and his 'vice' John Smith won over Ladies Captain Angela Samuels and her successor-in-waiting Avril Simpson, with Richard Samuels and Tony Simpson following with a victory over Sandra Bellis and Julie Smith. Harry Adam and Robin Lawes, John Preston and Kevin O'Donoghue and Mick Myatt and Steve Marriott completed wins for the men against Jackie Phelps and Margaret Osborne, Marilyn Myatt and Carmen White-Lawes, and Anne Tilbury and Cicely Goldsmith.
The Ladies did win a prize however - the "wooden spoon" presented to Angela by club captain Adrian Stephenson.
The Clubs inter-club team claimed the scalp of the Bedfordshire club squad, winning five of the six matches. Captain Adrian Stephenson and Keith Edmunds got Leighton off to a flying start and were followed into the club house with wins by Mike Loot and Dave Evans, Phil Eddy and Bryan Bateman, juniors Andres Valentine and Ed Stephenson and John Smith and Shane Bentley. Only County President Dave Hawkins and Mike Turnock avoided a clean sweep, losing by three holes.
But after drawing 3-3 at Thetford with wins by David Minister and David Roberts, Shane Bentley and Graham Freer and Andy McDonald and John Smith, the inter-club team suffered their heaviest defeat of the season, losing five of the six games against Beds & County despite an opening win by skipper Adrian Stephenson and Mark Hammond.
The seniors section whipped Whipsnade Park 5-1 before losing at Buckingham. Skipper Robbie John and Brian McKay opened the club's account with a two hole victory against Whipsnade. They were followed into the club house with wins by Dave Kingham and Keith Camp, Dave Debell and Victor Albertella, Steve Shepherd and Terry Lingham and Harry Adam and Will Sampson. John Tarbox and Andy Lock and Terry Wright and Mike Bluett halved their matches, with only Mike Turnock and Danny Nairne on the wrong end of the result. But the team went down 4-3 at Buckingham, with Denis Leitch and Mike Bluett, Will Sampson and David Newby and Fred Ritchie and Danny Nairne winning their games and Terry Wright and Keith Camp halving theirs.
The June Club Stableford was played in beautiful conditions and the scoring reflected this. In Division One Graham Hazel played some great golf to amass 44pts and win by 4pts from the trio of Gordon McLaren, Dennis Elliott and Paul Ahmet who all scored 40pts. With 39pts came the duo of Andy Mitchell and Neale Proud. Division Two was won by Claire Whitecross with 40pts closely followed by Jack Gammage with 39pts and in third place was Tony Brinded with 36pts.

Have you checked out the golf warm up on my website? It was put together by the best physio I have ever worked with and that is Diana O'Reilly. Diana has worked with world leaders in golf physiotherapy to hone her skills. She provides a fantastic service and she is one of the reasons I am still able to play golf. Her golf warm up is excellent and will help you get prepared for your game.
