The competitions keep coming and we had the Mens Medal on Saturday, the Open medal and Beck trophy on Sunday and the Mixed Greensome Foursome on bank holiday Monday.
On Saturday the division 1 winner was Josh Banwell with a nett 63. This was after Josh told us about him having no confidence. I would hate to play against him when he does have some confidence. In second was Tim Martin with a nett 68 and Eddie Edwards in third with a nett 69. All three players had their handicap reduced.
The second division was won by Alex Eddy with a nett 71, Phil Martin was second with a nett 72 and Steve Shepherd was third with a nett 73.
The third division was won by Andy Jones with a nett 69. Derek Shaw came second on nett 72 with Paul Dowdeswell finishing third on nett 75
The Open Medal on Sunday was won by Will Sampson with a nett 68 with Mark Knight coming second on nett 69 and Scott Douglas finishing third on nett 71. Will had his handicap reduced by one as well.
The Beck trophy was won by Oliver Banwell with a nett 64 with Adrian Stephenson finishing second on nett 68 and Dave Evans coming third on nett 72. Both Oliver and Adrain had the handicaps cut.
The mixed foursomes was won by Sandra Bellis and Mick Myatt on 40 points with Graham Richmond and Judy Ammon finishing second on 37 points and Mike and Sheila Turnock coming third on 37 points as well. Well done to you all.
For me personally a special note goes out to Scott Douglas. The reason is that Scott was having a tough time with his game at the end of last year. He came to me for help and now he has finished third in a competition. That does not happen by accident. Scott had help, but he also works his socks off to apply what he has learnt. Well done Scott.
At the moment we have a promotion on irons where you have a FREE fitting and a Free lesson. In my experience it is vital to have your clubs custom fitted to help you improve your golf. That said, something I always tell people is that you cannot expect to achieve a desired result if your technique is not effective. For example you cannot hit the ball low into the wind if you don't put the ball further back in your stance, take extra club and swing smoothly. It does not matter how much you spend on a set of clubs you will not hit that low shot if you don't perform those tasks. Please look at this video on how to hit a low shot to help you on the course.
Please also see below a testimonial from one of our members Graham Aldis regarding his experience with having his clubs custom fitted.
I thought it was about time I dropped you a line to thank you for the great work you did on fitting me with my new clubs last September. I have really noticed the difference in my ball striking, which has improved greatly. I did not realize how much difference it makes compared to buying straight off the shelf and I will definitely will recommend this to all my friends
