What Great Scoring!

Last Sunday saw the June Club Stableford being played in some great conditions and the scoring reflected this. In Division One first place went to Josh Rowles with 44pts, second went to John Ager with 42pts, with 41pts were Phil Coumbe and Neale Proud, 40pts were scored by Ian Hazell, Graham Hazel and Stuart Price and with 39pts were Colin Beesley and Andres Valentine.

In Division Two Dharm Naveen Diwaker scorched to victory with a massive total of 47pts, in second place with a great score of 43pts was Mike Manning, followed by Alison Williams and Peter Taylor who both scored 41pts, with 40pts were Neil Laming and Keith Camp and with 39pts were John Surguy and Jamie Thomson.

Well played to you all.

The U.S. Open Is Upon Us!

The U.S. Open starts on the 15th June and as with every US Open the course will be playing tough at Erin Hills. Hopefully Dustin Johnson and Rory McIlroy will be back to full fitness and playing some great golf. Often with the U.S. Open a score around par wins, so it's important for the players to get their minds right and not be too hard on themselves when a decent shot doesn't quite turn out how they would've liked.

It's something we can all learn from by not being too critical of ourselves when we don't hit a particularly good shot. It is okay to hit a shot not quite correctly, it might feel and look a bit rubbish, but if it's still in play so what? This way of thinking can take the pressure off the player as they're not worried if they don't hit the perfect shot, they just get on with the next one.

We have a sweepstake running in the shop, so if you would like to have a little more interest in the Championship come in and put your name in a box or boxes for £2.00 per box and get drawn a player who you can follow for the week. There are shop vouchers to be won.

This will be the first U.S. Open played at Erin Hills, a public golf course in Wisconsin that only opened in 2006 and is built on land sculpted by glaciers thousands of years ago!

Pro-Am

We are now taking entries for the Leighton Buzzard Pro Am. It is taking place on Wednesday 16th August. With the golf course well and truly moving forward it is a great opportunity to compete with a Professional in a day where you play for some fantastic prizes. It is a comfortable format with the two best scores out of four counting and you get to play with some of the best PGA Professional golfers in the area.

Our goal is to get to 40 teams this year and we require your support to do this. If you would like to enter a team please click here to register your interest. It truly is a great day at the Club.
