Winter League Trophy
Congratulations go to Mike Smith and David Coleman having just won the annual Winter League Trophy, they had never played golf together before, but gelled perfectly.
Mike and David stormed through the league program, winning four of their five matches to qualify for the "knock-out" stage.
They pulled back from being three holes down to claim the scalp of the much fancied pair of club treasurer, Phil Whitecross, and Russell Rowles on the first extra hole after finishing all square, and toppled Tim Martin and Peter Myrants in a final they won 2&1, having never been behind.
Mike, 20 years a member and a nine-handicap golfer, said;
"The fact that David knows virtually every blade of grass on the course and had chosen the pin positions as part of his job was very helpful. He's always upbeat about our chances and brought an enthusiasm and enjoyment for the game you don't always see in other players. It was a pleasure to play with him and I'm sure he will enjoy his year as Winter League Champion."

Farida Cerosio & Stephanie Howlett won the Ladies Fourball Betterball PING qualifier with 44 points, beating Vicki Pratt & Avril Simpson on countback.
Val Berry & Norma Stevens-Hack, Niki Clark & Jackie Phelps and Barbara Deacon & Sue Preston all finished with 43 points.
June Club Medal
Sunday saw the June Club Medal played and in some warm and blustery conditions, good scores were hard to come by. In Division One our Junior Vice Captain Shin Bateman had his scoring boots on and scored an excellent nett 64, he was closely followed by Jon Evans and Stuart Price, who both scored nett 65's. With nett 67's were Stephen Boud, Jason Brooks and Simon Thornton.
In Division Two only three players managed to score in the sixties and it was Robin Lawes who took top spot with a nett 66, Steve Foster took second with a nett 67 and Colin McLeod was third after a nett 69. With nett 71's were Shane Kimber and Peter Taylor.
We are now taking entries for the Leighton Buzzard Pro Am. It is taking place on Wednesday 16th August. With the golf course well and truly moving forward it is a great opportunity to compete with a Professional in a day where you play for some fantastic prizes.
It is a comfortable format with the two best scores out of four counting and you get to play with some of the best PGA Professional golfers in the area. Our goal is to get to 40 teams this year and we require your support to do this. If you would like to enter a team please click here to register your interest. It truly is a great day at the Club.
