We had some great scores over the weekend with Alex Sandham continuing his rich vein of form winning the Saturday medal on countback from Josh Rowles. Both players scored a nett 67. Third spot was also won on countback by Sam Messenger from Joe Lord, Phil Whitecross and Callum Campbell.
On Sunday the work that Neale Proud has been putting in paid off by winning the day on countback with 40 points from Brian Wilson and David Hawkins. Neale has been having help with his game from our newest southern hemisphere golfing import, Wayne.
Barry Parker and Eddie Edwards both had a hole in one recently on the 11th hole. Both had no idea that the other had holed out until they each rang the Captain's bell on their return to the club house. Both also used an 8 iron and then saw playing partner Mel Glover "lip out" for what would have been a remarkable double-ace.
Stuart Goodwin has had almost five shots trimmed from his handicap after winning back-to-back monthly Midweek club competitions. It's about time they caught up with Stuart as I have suffered in the past from his ruthless streak on the course :).
Stuart then won the July stableford with 43 points, resulting in his handicap being cut from 18 to 15.7. Now after winning the August midweek medal with an impressive nett 65, he has been cut to a new low handicap of 13.6. Stuart said "It could be a while before I win another." The midweek Stableford saw Stuart score 43points with David Jones finishing second on 41pts and Mike Manning third on 40pts.
The midweek medal was won by Stuart with a nett 66, with John Allinson taking second on count back from Josh Banwell and Robbie John with all three scoring a nett 67.
The Rosebury Cup was won by John Tarbox and Steve Gibbs with them beating Phil Coumbe and John Smith in the final. Well done to all the winners.
Spanish Coaching Trip
The last few years I have travelled to Spain with some fantastic people for coaching trips. Next year I am going to Spain in January and February. The dates in January are 13th -17th and in February the dates are 10th - 14th. We have a limited number of spaces on each trip available. Each year we have travelled to a resort called Islantilla, but next year we are travelling to El Rompido which is a fantastic resort with two golf courses that receive great reviews. We will be playing three games of golf and have coaching every morning while away. I play with each group in the afternoon so I can help people on the course as well as with their game in the morning. It is four nights half board where you are totally immersed in golf in warmer weather. Each year I have a number of people who return with me as they have such a great time and learn a lot. If you would like to experience the fun and learning please click here to register your interest.
"I would just like to thank you for organising and leading the Golf Coaching trip to Spain. First of all, not having played golf in Spain before, I found it a most enjoyable experience, a challenging 18 holes, the track certainly called for good course management and a number of golf skills, and it is the skills coaching in particular I wanted to thank you for".
"The organisation, preparation and coaching that you provided during the 4 days was beyond expectations. Your skill demonstrations and explanations, setting the scene for the morning practice session, followed by the individual attention you gave to each of us during our practice was really great. I learned a lot from these morning sessions and they helped me to have the confidence to execute, on the course, what we had practiced".
"Just a note to thank you again for your organisation and thoughtful arrangements made for the trip to be as successful and enjoyable as it was, I felt I have learned many useful tips and can't wait to apply them to the home ground!!"
