A wet and windy weekend was had by all but I suppose we were due for one eventually. It did not deter the good play of members, with Captain Derek Lindley (pictured) & Brian Wilson winning the Bunney Winter Greensomes with 43 points. They had a three point winning margin over Sheila & Mike Turnock on 40 points. President David Hawkins & Paul Atkinson finishing third on countback from Derek Richards & Chris Read with both teams on 39 points.
The John Lally Texas Scramble saw the wettest day. Peter Gadsden, Barry Wills, Andrew Money and Andrew Ashall won by half a shot scoring 55.2. They beat Eddie Edwards, Abe Plummer, Paul Dowdeswell and Sean Harries who scored 55.7 with Scott Douglas, Steve Fleming, Nigel Chapman and Paul Ahmet finishing third scoring 56.65.
Personally I had a fantastic weekend as one of my school friends visited us on Friday evening and then on Saturday morning I was in the workshop doing a repair. I heard a shout from the shop floor and to my surprise the man that coached me when I was in the New Zealand squad as a 16 year old was stood there. He had travelled over to see his two sons who live in London. They are travelling around the country playing some golf. We went upstairs and had a coffee discussing golf and how things have changed over the years. I was totally blown away by the visit.
People have been digging deep and helping the club out. Organised by David Hack with Derek Browning, David Debell, Derek Eaton, Terry Wright and Danny Nairne all helping paint the railings and the stairs around our clubhouse. Thank you to all helpers, it is greatly appreciated by one and all. Thanks also must go to Chris Caney from Platform Sales & Hire Ltd for providing the scissor lift free of charge to the club.
Next week we are hollow tining the greens and we require help on Monday and Tuesday. Please click here if you are able to lend a hand. In the future we will be asking for help around the course for jobs that require a few extra bodies to get the job done. Please let me know if you would like to be put down on the volunteer work list for future projects.

Spanish Coaching Trip
The last few years I have travelled to Spain with some fantastic people for coaching trips. Next year I am going to Spain in January and February. The dates in January are 13th -17th and in February the dates are
10th - 14th February SOLD OUT. I have a limited number of spaces left available on the January trip. Each year we have travelled to a resort called Islantilla, but next year we are travelling to El Rompido which is a fantastic resort with two golf courses that receive great reviews. We will be playing three games of golf and have coaching every morning while away. I play with each group in the afternoon so I can help people on the course as well as with their game in the morning. It is four nights half board where you are totally immersed in golf in warmer weather. Each year I have a number of people who return with me as they have such a great time and learn a lot. If you would like to experience the fun and learning please click here to register your interest.
"I would just like to thank you for organising and leading the Golf Coaching trip to Spain. First of all, not having played golf in Spain before, I found it a most enjoyable experience, a challenging 18 holes, the track certainly called for good course management and a number of golf skills, and it is the skills coaching in particular I wanted to thank you for".
"The organisation, preparation and coaching that you provided during the 4 days was beyond expectations. Your skill demonstrations and explanations, setting the scene for the morning practice session, followed by the individual attention you gave to each of us during our practice was really great. I learned a lot from these morning sessions and they helped me to have the confidence to execute, on the course, what we had practiced".
"Just a note to thank you again for your organisation and thoughtful arrangements made for the trip to be as successful and enjoyable as it was, I felt I have learned many useful tips and can't wait to apply them to the home ground!!"
