We have had a few results come in over the last week or so with the Dennis Jordan Trophy being decided. Lance Lawes & Peter Burgoyne beat David Scott & David Jones in the final. David Robinson won the Groves final by beating Simon Goodall.
We also had the Captains Charity day on Saturday where money was raised for Willen Hospice. The winners were Shin Bateman, Teddy Jones, Nat Jones and Andy Jones with 130 points. Second spot was taken by Manny Barker, Richard Barrow, Philip Spratt-Callaghan and Jamie Stone on 127 points and in third was B. Kent, Steve Boud, S. Andrew and Mark Vincent on 121 points. The yellow ball winners were Colin Dunlop, Len Neal and Mick Cox with 39 points. Well done to all of the winners.
The rain has now returned after the driest September on record. It means the playing conditions will change on the course. How will you approach the game differently? The course starts getting longer and the ball will stop quicker on the greens. The rough normally becomes a little more challenging due it being wet. You will need to consider your options when playing from the rough. Do not attempt a shot that is unrealistic. The game has a way of tempting us in to playing a shot that we should not do.
If you are in deep rough make sure it only costs you one shot and carry on from there. Please also remember that the less lofted a club is the less likely it is to get out of the rough. If you watch the video you will see Tiger Woods struggling out of deep rough. Sometimes golf just doesn't go our way and the video attached is one that shows the best players in the world can play the worst of shots. Click on the image to watch. There is an advert at the start but if you can get through that you will some truly volatile golfers that play some spectacular shots. Mr Garcia definitely shows his Spanish flair.
PING Demo Day
We have managed to secure another PING demo day. This is rare as PING accounts only tend to have one a year. I have managed to persuade my PING rep to give me another one. You will be able to try the new PING G30 driver which hits the ball a country mile. I am using the driver and fairway wood and I am loving them. The G30 irons are also fantastic but I feel the winner in the range of irons is the Karsten range. Everyone that has used them on the Flightscope launch monitor has absolutely nailed them. We will only have 8 appointments available. I would normally have more but due to the time of year it may rain. If it does rain we will be indoors, which means we can only see one person at a time. Please have a look at the video and see why the new G30 is receiving such amazing reviews.
