What a difference a year makes as this time last year we were under snow and it is our first club match on Saturday against Mentmore. I wish our team the very best in the local derby. The winter league final took place last Sunday with Mark Vincent and Steve Giles beating our very own Club Captain Derek Lindley and his partner Lance Lawes. Steve and Mark won 4 & 3 on the day and were 2 down at one point during the game. So it was a great fight back by Mark and Steve. All credit to them as they stuck at their task and came home worthy winners, well done chaps.
Callaway Demo Day
This year I have stocked Callaway. When I stock a product I have to believe in it. I like to treat clients as I want to be treated when I buy something. That is for the retailer to know that what they are selling me will help me. That is because it is a long term relationship between the client and the retailer.
I have stocked PING for many years and have continued to do so. Now I have found another great company to stock. The Callaway range is truly outstanding. They spend more money on research and development than any other company in golf.
Last week I hit the X2 Hot driver and the Big Bertha driver and I found both to be awesome. The Big Bertha driver has 20% higher moment of inertia than its previous model. That means it resists twisting on off centre strikes 20% better. The X2 Hot driver has a 10% larger sweet spot than its previous model which means it is even more forgiving and the X2 Hot irons are long and forgiving. In testing the X2 Hot irons are 5 yards longer than the X Hot irons.

Pitching is a part of the game that I have strived to work on as I know that to score well you need to pitch well. A good pitching game makes up for mistakes you make with your long game and helps you convert chances when you put yourself in a good position. Good pitchers of the ball are people that have a shallow angle of attack. A shallow angle of attack helps you to be more consistent in your striking and in your distance judging. It helps you make up for errors. For example a golfer that has a shallow angle of attack can afford to hit the ground slightly before the ball and still produce a decent result. If your strike down too steeply and you hit the ground before the ball you simply duff the shot. A shallower angle of attack helps avoid that. In this week's video (click on the image above) I show you a simple little exercise that can help you produce that shallow angle of attack. Use it, practice it, persevere and you will be rewarded with a consistent pitching game.
The other thing that you need to understand is to use wedges that suit your game and that have bounce on the sole. We carry in stock a number of very good wedges. Macgregor, Vokey, PING and Callaway. All companies produce good quality wedges with good bounce options to help your game. With our FREE guidance we can help you find some wedges that will help your game.
