The Men's European Tour finishes its 2015 season this week. Forty seven events have been completed with just the one to go, The DP World Tour Championship in Dubai. There are seven players who could mathematically top the tour Order of Merit to become European no.1. You've got Rory McIlroy and Danny Willett neck and neck then there's Justin Rose, Shane Lowry, Louis Oosthuizen, Branden Grace and Byeong-hun An. When you look closer at their scoring averages you can see that Danny Willett has played 76 rounds of golf with an average score of 70, Branden Grace played 62 averaging a score of 69.66 and Byeong-hun An has played more rounds (88) with an average of 70.15. Then you look at Justin Rose who has played 48 rounds averaging 69.5 and Rory McIlroy playing just 36 rounds with an average of 69.56. Not only does this show how consistent these players are and how good their short game is it also shows that the very top players can produce their best golf in the bigger tournaments that earn them more points.
The top tour professionals work on their techniques so hard it becomes an instinct to them so they don't need to think about it when playing they just need to visualise the shot they need to hit and go for it, all the preparation and practice has been done on the practice range, they just need to go out and play golf. All of us would love to have more consistency in our games rather than the good being fantastic and the bad being truly awful, birdies on some holes, triple bogies on others. The only way to achieve this is by getting your fundamentals correct and putting a bit of practice in whenever you can, even if just 20 minutes, it all helps to play better more consistent and enjoyable golf.

The men's Turkey competitions have been taking place over the last week or so. Instead of winning the usual vouchers its turkey's that are on offer for a good round of golf in the various competitions. It looks like Dave Banwell and his family are going to be well fed this year as he has finished second in one competition and first in another, perhaps he'll send out some invites for a Xmas dinner.
In the Men's Midweek Turkey Stableford Derek Ellam produced a superb 42pts to win from Dave Banwell and Dennis Leitch who both had 39pts. Six others had 38pts who were Terry Lingham, Phil Eddy, Phil Coumbe, Steve Paine, David Debell and Phil Martin.
The weekend Turkey Medal's took place in some very challenging conditions of wind and rain. However there were still some great scores. On Saturday it was Dave Banwell going round in level par for a nett 67 who took the win. In joint second place with nett 68's were Steve Foster, David Jones and Len Clark. Others to beat par were David Roberts and Barry Kent with nett 69's and Jeff Wood had nett 70. Also on Saturday Colin McLeod had a great hole in one on the ninth hole. He came in a very happy chap as he'd just bought some FootJoy DryJoy Tour golf shoes so not only did he have a hole in one but also had nice dry feet.
On Sunday the wind really did blow and only five players managed to beat par. Dennis Elliott went round in an excellent 74 shots for a nett 66 to beat Adrian Stephenson by two shots (nett 68) and Paul Johnson came in third with a nett 69 with Voja Savic and Geoff Nunn scoring nett 70's. Very well played to you all.
Pace of play - At the putting green:
- Assess your line, repair pitch-marks on the green and remove loose impediments while others are playing.
- Move off the green as soon as all players in your group have holed out and mark score cards at or on the way to the next tee.
- Speed up your exit by positioning your bags on the way to the next tee.
